Legacy of Strength: Empowering Women with Nina Cheyenne
Our Story
Our story begins in the 1960s with Barbara Anne Thomas in Philadelphia. Self-taught from a young age, Barbara transformed fabric into stunning garments using brown paper bags for patterns. Her basement home office became a creative hub, producing clothes for her children and a thriving business featured in prestigious stores. Despite proactive health checkups and her sister's early death from breast cancer, Barbara faced healthcare barriers, with her symptoms often dismissed. This delayed diagnosis led to her battle with cancer, which she fought courageously until her passing in 1993. Her legacy of strength, creativity, and resilience lives on through the Nina Cheyenne brand.
Today
Nina and Cheyenne, a dynamic mother-daughter duo, continue to carry the torch forward, combining their unique styles, talents, and visions to redefine the fashion landscape. The "Legacy of Strength: Empowering Women with Nina Cheyenne" campaign was born out of our shared passion for bold, fashionable clothing that celebrates the confident woman in all her beautiful sizes. But beyond style, we recognized the need to address the systemic barriers that women of color face in their educational, professional, and health journeys.
Our Mission
